An active member of his community, Carnovale created and organized the Big Brother Ice Hockey Program within the Pine-Richland hockey organization which included several team activities with high school players matched up with middle school players as brothers to create a stronger family bond among students within the organization.

He also coordinated multiple neighborhood food drives for local North Way Christian food pantries, organized and delivered items for snack drives benefitting Urban Impact inner city youth and participated in St. Alphonsus annual fish fry.  In addition, he served as a youth hockey mentor for hockey players in the North Pittsburgh Youth Hockey and Pine-Richland Hockey organizations.
