Penguins Foundation and Mighty Penguins to Participate in NHL’s “Recycle the Game” Initiative

The Mighty Penguins, Pittsburgh’s Sled Hockey Team, will be at the NHL’s Centennial Fan Arena event located in the Stage AE parking lot on Friday, February 24 and Saturday, February 25 from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm collecting used hockey equipment in conjunction with the League’s “Recycle the Game” initiative. Fans making a donation will receive a 10 percent discount coupon to be used at the NHL Shop Online (shop.nhl.com).

The Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation is encouraging anyone with unwanted, used hockey equipment to stop by and drop it off at the large hockey net collection site.  All donations will be accepted by members of The Mighty Penguins sled hockey team.

The collection is part of the ongoing commitment by the NHL and the Pittsburgh Penguins’ organization to environmental sustainability.  The goal is to keep used hockey gear out of attics and basements and to get it back onto the ice, where it belongs.
