Penguins Wives Support Local Children with Holiday Basket Auction

Starting Thursday, December 7

The Pittsburgh Penguins Wives Association will host its 17th annual Holiday Basket Online Auction, starting at 6:00 pm on Thursday, December 7 and continuing through Tuesday, December 19.

Each holiday basket is decorated and filled with items unique to a Penguins player. The baskets showcase the players’ favorite items including hobbies, interests or hometown. While each gift basket differs in content and decoration, all baskets contain at least one autographed item.

Fans may see (and bid on) the baskets at pensbasket.gesture.com. Bids may also be placed by texting PENSBASKET to 52182.

Proceeds from this year’s auction will benefit the “Blessings in a Backpack” program at Trinity North Elementary School in Washington, Pa. The program provides nutritious food items for underprivileged children on days when school meals are not available.

Fans may bid on the holiday baskets until noon on December 19. Once the auction concludes, the gift baskets will begin shipping within five business days.

The holidays have proven to be a busy time for the Penguins Wives Association as the ladies have collected food at the team’s annual food drive for the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, collected toys at the team’s USMC Toys for Tots toy drive, filled shoebox gifts for The Shoebox Project benefitting Pittsburgh-area family shelters and purchased Christmas gifts for underprivileged children with their Adopt A Child for the Holidays program.
