The Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation and EVERFI are partnering to support the FBI Pittsburgh Division and Citizens Academy on their Heroin Outreach Prevention and Education (HOPE) Initiative. Focusing on the importance of prevention education, this initiative will teach students about opioid abuse and provide an understanding of how abuse can be prevented. The Penguins Foundation partnered with WQED, FBI Pittsburgh and Youth Express on a contest for students in grades 6-8 attending Pittsburgh Public Schools. Aimed to engage students on the struggles of drug addiction, the #messageforHOPE initiative allowed these students to use creative mediums to address the ongoing drug epidemic and ways to rely on positive outlets rather than drugs.
