Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender Matt Murray and his exclusive equipment supplier, Vaughn, will auction the equipment Murray wore in last season’s Stadium Series outdoor game to benefit the Delta Foundation of Pittsburgh.
The auction will be held from December 4-11, and bids may be placed online at mattmurray.givesmart.com.
Bids will start at $5,000 for a package that includes Murray’s unique game-used mask, pads, glove and blocker from the Stadium Series game, as well as a personal meet-and-greet with Matt.
The winning bidder will receive four tickets to the Penguins’ March 24 game against Carolina at PPG Paints Arena and meet Matt after the game.
The Delta Foundation is dedicated to improving the quality of life and visibility of the LGBTQ community in Pittsburgh. The Penguins’ March 24 game will be “Pride Night” at the arena, part of the team’s season-long “Hockey is for Everyone” initiative.
“I am proud to the Penguins’ ambassador once again for ‘Hockey is for Everyone,’” Murray said. “My hope is that auctioning my Stadium Series gear will bring more attention to our Pride Night, and provide extra assistance to the Delta Foundation of Pittsburgh. I look forward to meeting the winning bidders.”
The Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation is assisting Murray with the auction.
The auction will start at 12 noon on December 4 and conclude at 12 noon on December 11.
