This week’s blog highlights one of the Penguins Foundation’s community partners, Variety the Children’s Charity, and one of their recent events that will help to change the lives of youth in our community …
After a pandemic year of not hosting in-person events, it was a refreshing step back to normalcy when Variety hosted its 2021 Golf Outing on June 7th at the Longue Vue Club – and it was truly a day that could change kids’ lives!
The course was full with 27 foursomes in attendance, playing on one of Pittsburgh’s most beautiful golf courses.
Each golfer played 18-holes of golf; received a delicious on-course BBQ lunch, snacks and drinks along the course; and a post-event reception with hors d’oeuvres.
All of the support for this year’s event came from incredibly generous individuals and companies from all over the region.
This annual event is critical to raising needed funds, so that Variety can continue its mission to help kids with disabilities live life to the fullest, and simply be kids.
Variety focuses on mobility and communication equipment through its three programs – My Bike (adaptive bikes), My Stroller (adaptive strollers), and My Voice (communication devices or talkers).
Variety’s work is to help kids like, Maci, who received her new PINK adaptive bike from Variety this past March, and her smile of pure joy says it all.
How wonderful to see children’s smiles like Maci in the attached photo!
