In honor of NHL Green Month and the Pittsburgh Penguins ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability, Penguins home games on March 11 and 25 will be powered by 100% renewable energy provided by the Penguins Foundation. In addition, the Foundation has also purchased enough water to counterbalance the water used during the two games.
The NHL’s league-wide Green Month program calls attention to its member clubs being environmentally responsible. The Penguins have an ongoing commitment to the cause, as PPG Paints Arena was the first sports facility in North America to be LEED Gold Certified with the Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design certification program. Since the facility opened in 2010, it has provided a positive impact on our region and everyone who attends its events.
In celebration of NHL Green Month, the Penguins Foundation will post a new Eco-Friendly fun fact each day in an effort to promote the values of Going Green!
