Pittsburgh, PA – Once again, the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation has made a huge impact on charities in the Pittsburgh region. This season, the Foundation has donated over $900,000 to local 501c3 charities from funds collected through the 50/50 Raffle during Penguins home games. The Foundation has raised over $10 million from the Raffle and donated over $6 million since its inception in 2012.

During the 2018.19 season, the Foundation distributed grants to 63 organizations around the Greater Pittsburgh area. These organizations included the Envision Blind Sports, Children’s Sickle Cell Foundation, Bailey’s Bottoms & Random Act of Kindness, The Friendship Circle, Strong Women, Strong Girls, Christopher’s Kitchen, Guardian Angel Medical Service Dogs, and many more.

“Making an impact on our community is what it’s all about,” Dave Soltesz, President of the Penguins Foundation said. “We meet each one of these organizations; seeing and hearing their stories is what makes the grant process so dynamic.”

Since the inception of the 50/50 Raffle, the Foundation has been able to assist over 155 unique charities in our community.

“These grants are really awarded on behalf of our fans,” Soltesz said. “Without their support of the 50/50 Raffle at each game, the Foundation wouldn’t be able to support such deserving organizations.”

The Penguins Foundation Grants are awarded twice a year – once in February and once at the conclusion of the Penguins’ season. The 2019.20 grant application will be available on the Foundation’s website at the start of next season.
