Penguins Foundation and Forward Jake Guentzel Give Back to UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Through Launch of Exclusive Pittsburgh Penguins WubbaNub

The Penguins Foundation announced the launch of the exclusive Pittsburgh Penguins WubbaNub, available for purchase for $20 beginning today, Friday, Dec. 4, with all proceeds benefiting UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. In addition, Penguins forward Jake Guentzel is kicking off the giving by making a charitable contribution of $5,000 to UPMC Children’s Hospital, as well as purchasing the first 100 Penguins WubbaNubs as a gift.

To celebrate the launch of the official Penguins WubbaNub, Jake Guentzel is donating 100 of the Penguins’ pacifiers, along with $5,000 to UPMC Children’s as an extension of his Hearts of Gold program that has been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  His program invites children with congenital heart defects and other heart conditions in the Pittsburgh community to PPG Paints Arena to watch a Penguins’ home game, followed by a post-game meet and greet with Guentzel.

“I look forward to meeting so many fans each year through my Hearts of Gold program,” said Guentzel.  “I wanted to do something to stay connected and still benefit the patients at UPMC Children’s.  The WubbaNubs are a great way to give our tiniest fans some comfort right now.”

The Pittsburgh Penguins WubbaNub features the team’s NHL-licensed logo, as well as a healing heart on the chest of the penguin plush.  These one-of-a-kind designed WubbaNubs may be purchased here for $20.  Holiday orders should be placed no later than Dec. 11 to ensure an arrival prior to Dec. 25.
