In partnership with the Pittsburgh CLO, the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation is proud to be the lead sponsor of this year’s Gallery of Heroes Musical, “Steel.” Through dramatic sketches and musical pieces, the Pittsburgh CLO’s Gallery of Heroes program takes its 50 minute musical to area schools.
This year, the Foundation has provided funding for this mini-musical. Members of the CLO take the show on the road to local schools to educate students about great historical figures. This year’s series, written by Jason Coll, will tell the stories of three generations of steelworkers. This musical recalls the steelworkers’ role in industry and their impact on a town that steel built. The region’s rich history comes to life with stories about the immigrant families of Andrew Carnegie, Henry Clay Frick, and others.
“This project is one that we are very proud to fund,” said Dave Soltesz, president of the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation. “Giving students the opportunity to learn about our great city in this unique medium is one they’ll never forget.
“Steel” will be touring from January 2017 through May 2017 and will impact over 40,000 students. For more information, visit PittsburghCLO.org or call 412.325.6459.
