Penguins Foundation Provides Sensory Gift Kits to Special Hockey Teams

The Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation shared 225 sensory gift kits with five special hockey teams today during the International Day for People with Disability.  The Penguins-branded sensory kits will be distributed during December to youth special hockey players from the Steel City Icebergs, Pittsburgh Emperors, Southpointe Grizzlies, Beaver County Ice Sharks and Happy Valley Special Hockey.

Each sensory gift kit includes 10 items as follows: drawstring bag, fidget penguin, fun cube, tangle puzzle, notepad, pen, sunglasses, ear muffs (headphones), wet wipes and support sticker.

The International Day for People with Disability aims to promote the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities in all spheres of society and development and to increase awareness of the situation of persons with disabilities in every aspect of life.  Special hockey is one of the six disciplines of disabled hockey as recognized by USA Hockey and falls under the NHL’s Hockey is for Everyone initiative.
