Pens Announce Donation/Fundraiser to Support Victims of Las Vegas Tragedy

The Pittsburgh Penguins today announced that they are donating $25,000 to support victims and first responders of Sunday’s shooting tragedy in Las Vegas.

The Penguins also are encouraging fans to donate in one of two ways. Fans may donate online through the Penguins Foundation’s website: https://pittsburghpenguinsfoundation.org/donate-las-vegas-shooting/-las-vegas-shooting/. Or, fans may text LASVEGAS to 52182.

On Tuesday, the National Hockey League, the Vegas Golden Knights and the Foley Family Charitable Trust made a joint donation and announced the creation of a fund “to support victims of Sunday night’s mass shooting in Las Vegas and the first responders who have worked fearlessly and tirelessly from the moment tragedy struck.”

The NHL and its clubs – together under the banner of “Vegas United” – will honor the victims at season-opening games across the league this week, as well as providing assistance through fundraising drives and other ventures.

The Penguins will have a moment of silence before tonight’s season-opener against the St. Louis Blues at PPG Paints Arena.

“The Penguins support the Vegas Golden Knights and the entire National Hockey League in this important effort to assist the victims and first responders,” said David Morehouse, president and CEO of the Penguins. “We ask our fans to join us all in supporting this significant initiative for the Las Vegas community.'”

All donated funds will be administered by The Vegas Golden Knights Foundation.
