Penguins and 84 Lumber Announce Plans for Military Appreciation Game on November 5

For the third-consecutive season, 84 Lumber has been named the presenting partner of the Pittsburgh Penguins’ Military Appreciation Game, which will take place on Saturday, November 5 at 7:00 PM against the Seattle Kraken.

All fans in attendance will receive a co-branded camouflage hat, courtesy of 84 Lumber.

The Penguins and 84 Lumber are partnering for the Military Appreciation Game and several other initiatives to celebrate those who have fought, and continue to fight, for our freedom every day.

“We are thrilled to once again be partnering with the Penguins for this year’s Military Appreciation Game,” said Amy Smiley, vice president of marketing for 84 Lumber. “From offering military discounts to supporting organizations like the Friends of the Pittsburgh Fisher House, 84 Lumber focuses on giving back to our military and veterans all year round. We hope this game, and all the military initiatives we’re working on with the Penguins, has a positive impact in our community.”

84 Lumber will be providing 1,000 tickets for local military members and veterans to attend either the Military Appreciation Game or the Penguins’ game versus the Toronto Maple Leafs on Nov. 15. Military members who are interested in attending can enter for their chance to receive tickets here, and winners will be notified on Nov. 1. In addition, any military member or veteran is eligible to receive a special ticket discount for the game. To take advantage, those eligible can visit here to register for a GovX account and purchase tickets.

On November 5, the Penguins will take the ice for pre-game warmups in custom military jerseys and use Military Appreciation warm-up pucks to honor those that served and continue to serve our country. This season, two local hockey organizations that support the military community, the Pittsburgh Warriors and Johnstown Generals, will be honored on the specialty jerseys worn by the Penguins players during pre-game warmups. The Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation is supporting the Pittsburgh Warriors in their launch of the first disabled veteran hockey league in the United States.  Games will be played at the Hunt Armory starting in mid-November.

Jerseys, pucks and additional autographed memorabilia will be put up for auction from November 5-11. Proceeds from the auction, hosted by the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation, will benefit Friends of Pittsburgh Fisher House, Pittsburgh Warriors and Johnstown Generals. To join the auction, visit here or text PENS to 76278 beginning on Nov. 5.

The Penguins and 84 Lumber are also launching their ‘Home for a Hero’ campaign where individuals can nominate deserving and eligible local veterans for the chance to win $50,000 in home renovations. Nominations can be submitted here and the promotion will close on April 1. The winner will be notified on or around Memorial Day 2023 as part of 84 Lumber’s Operation Appreciation platform during Military Appreciation Month in May.
