The Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation is launching a $1 million fund-raising campaign to coincide with its 10th anniversary season in 2019-20.
One of the first of many fund-raising initiatives will be a game-used helmet auction, starting at tonight’s game against Anaheim at PPG Paints Arena and lasting 10 days. The helmets, which are autographed, will be on display behind Section 104. Bids may also be placed at penshelmet.givesmart.com or by texting PENSHELMET to 52182, through October 19 at 8 p.m.
Tonight’s game against Anaheim marks the official start of the Foundation’s season-long fund-raising celebration. The first 3,000 kids 12 and under will receive a free Sidney Crosby Growth Chart.
Other kid-based activities on Thursday include the Jr. Starter, High Five, Selfie, Zamboni Rides and Puck Pals.
The Penguins Foundation also has teamed up with Penguins players for a program to provide tickets to youth-based charities and organizations. This initiative, known as “The Pens Give,” will specifically target charities that “are close to the hearts of the players.”
