Pittsburgh, PA – The Pittsburgh Penguins’ organization welcomed in the 2017-18 hockey season on September 12 by hitting the links for charity at the 30th Annual Summer Sticks Golf Classic presented by UPMC. The tournament benefits the Penguins Foundation’s scholarship programs.
With the sold-out tournament’s overwhelming success and the support of UPMC, the event has enabled the Foundation to award a total of 62 educational-based scholarships over the past three years.
A Penguins tradition for decades, the scramble-style tournament featured Penguins players and coaches serving as celebrity captains for each foursome.
Bragging honors for 2017 went to Penguins Assistant Coach Mark Recchi as his foursome captured first place honors for the day! A great time was had by all.
