Penguins Foundation to Celebrate ‘Week of Assists’

Tis the season to assist… the hockey season that is!  From December 12 through December 16, the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation will be assisting organizations in the Pittsburgh-area during the first-ever Week of Assists.  In an effort to create a better future for kids, the Foundation will be conducting a random act of kindness each day during the Week of Assists.  To follow along and see where the Foundation’s surprise assist pops up, be sure to follow the Foundation on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

In addition, at the Penguins games during the Week of Assists, the Foundation will be sharing holiday cheer on the PPG Paints Arena concourse near Section 104 outside of the Key Bank Club with the below initiatives. If you will be attending a game during the Week of Assists, be sure to stop by, say hello and help support the Penguins Foundation. Or, visit our website and make a donation today!

  • Tree of Assists:  Visit the Tree of Assists and purchase an ornament to support a local 501c3 organization. Mystery pucks signed by current Pittsburgh Penguins players and additional Penguins prizes will also be available.
  • Holiday Basket Auction:  Each basket is filled with a player’s favorite things! Created by each player’s wife or girlfriend, these unique baskets will be up for auction from December 9 through December 19. To learn more about the baskets, visit bidpal.net/wives. The auction will close at 12 PM EST on December 19.

 

Finally, the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation will be conducting an online social media contest from December 12 through December 16 at 10 AM EST using the hashtag #WeekOfAssists. Fans are encouraged to share their own random act of kindness on Twitter or Instagram to spread holiday cheer and to be entered to win tickets to the Penguins home game on December 20. Sample acts of kindness include baking Penguins-themed cookies for your neighbor, leaving a gift or surprise note for a stranger to find or mailing an early holiday gift to a friend or family member.  Creativity is encouraged!
